Profile
I am a PhD candidate in political science at Erasmus University Rotterdam. I work on European Union governance and socio-economic reform processes in EU Member States. I am in the final year of my PhD, finishing in June 2027.
My research is focused on understanding how different configurations of domestic politics can affect the Europeanization of social policy. I have conducted in-depth process tracing of labour market and pension reforms in Italy and Spain between 2011 and 2025. With respect to European economic governance, my work explores the “domestic effects” of the European Semester, the Recovery and Resilience Facility and the National Recovery and Resilience Plans, as well as the newly reformed SGP and the National Medium-term Fiscal-structural Plans.

My work is part of the research project Towards a resilient European Union? Post-pandemic economic governance amidst politicisation (PEGAP), funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO). My supervisors are prof. Markus Haverland (PEGAP’s principal investigator), dr. Asya Zhelyazkova, and dr. Pieter Tuytens.
